first OM-10 photos!
wow!! a real camera!
As I mentioned in a previous post, I finally bought myself a full-featured film camera; an Olympus OM-10! And I’ve absolutely been loving using it; the weight and heft of a camera of this age feels incredible, and everything about the mechanisms feels great. The lens I got with it is the much-loved Zuiko 50mm f1.8, and it has been an absolute pleasure to use. Here are some of my favourite shots from this camera, freshly back from the lab! Shot on Kodak UltraMax 400 and Kodak Portra 160, check ‘em out!
First up, some nice big landscape shots. I’m really pleased with how these came out; the frame feels wide and open, with a lot of room to breathe.
Next, how about some medium-distance photos of buildings and various things that I found cool out and about:
Single-subject practice:
And to round things out, let’s do a bunch of soft-background closeups!
BONUS: A sealion in the river!
All in all, I’m really, really happy with the results. I haven’t had a lot of practice with this camera yet, and I’m still very much a novice when it comes to photography in general - but the results I’m getting are blowing me away, in comparison to the fixed-aperture, fixed-speed cameras I’ve been using up to this point. I’m finding new, interesting ways to frame subjects, and I’m learning a lot more about light and composition, just through experience. And it feels so great to have a creative outlet that isn’t on the computer.
Well, until next time - have a great day, everyone!
