During a break from game development, I worked alongside the team at WRLD3D to create and support a feature-rich real-time 3D mapping application. Users could view maps of the world, find routes to destinations, find routes through the insides of buildings in 3D, and connect the maps to their own APIs and data sources to visualise realtime information in 3D on their devices. We also had WYSIWYG editor tools on the web platform to allow people to design their own interiors. My responsibilities included optimizations, supporting the Unity3D plugin for game developers to use, writing technical docs, implementing new backend features, creating wayfinding features in multiple coordinate systems (ECEF, WGS 84) and processing data in our map source data pipeline for the region of Tokyo, Japan.
